Data and AI company Databricks announced two senior leadership appointments in Korea on Monday, aiming to strengthen its local presence and support business growth.
Hyoungjun Anthony Kang joins as vice president and country manager for Korea, responsible for leading operations and driving adoption of the company's Data Intelligence Platform. Kang previously served as managing director and country manager for Google Cloud Korea and held leadership positions at several data software companies.
Kyungsoon Kelly Um takes on the role of senior director and technical general manager, bringing over 30 years of experience in helping customers implement technology solutions. Um most recently worked as director of customer engineering at Google Cloud Korea.
The appointments follow Databricks' reported 100% year-over-year growth in Korea over the past fiscal year.
Ed Lenta, senior vice president and general manager of Asia-Pacific and Japan at Databricks, expressed confidence in Kang's ability to scale the Korean business.
"I believe that there is a massive opportunity to help organizations in Korea adopt the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to solve their data challenges in order to unlock the benefits of generative AI," said Kang.
Databricks expects the new leadership to play a crucial role in helping local customers implement data and AI strategies using their platform. The company aims to capitalize on the growing demand for advanced data solutions and artificial intelligence capabilities in the Korean market.
