Databricks, the data and AI company, announced Monday that it has received Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) High Agency Authority to Operate for its cloud services on Amazon Web Services GovCloud.

The certification allows Databricks to support highly sensitive and mission-critical defense workloads involving Controlled Unclassified Information across data analytics and AI use cases for federal agencies.

Jude Boyle, vice president of public sector at Databricks, said the FedRAMP High authorization is "an important milestone" that will enable the company to help federal customers securely manage sensitive cloud workloads like drug discovery, defense readiness and generative AI.

Databricks' data intelligence platform empowers agencies to accelerate innovation while minimizing risk when working with private and public data, according to the company. It meets federal compliance requirements to support sensitive use cases.

The certification builds on previous FedRAMP High and Department of Defense Impact Level 5 authorizations that Databricks received for its services on Microsoft Azure.

Several technology partners praised Databricks' achievement, including Accenture Federal Services, Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte Consulting LLP. The companies said they looked forward to collaborating with Databricks on implementing secure data and AI solutions for federal clients.

Databricks on AWS GovCloud is available in public preview, enabling agencies and contractors to run production workloads needing to comply with FedRAMP High and International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
