NetApp announced Wednesday it has expanded its relationship with Porsche Motorsport to become the exclusive Intelligent Data Infrastructure partner, providing faster access to racing data to drive strategic decision-making on the track.

The expanded partnership creates a new relationship between NetApp and Team Porsche Penske Motorsport in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and World Endurance Championship, in addition to continued support for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team.

While working with NetApp's intelligent data infrastructure this season, the Formula E team has earned four victories, putting them in a competitive position. Real-time access to data informs race strategy, supports data-driven decisions, and improves outcomes.

"Racing is the ultimate test for technology because speed is literally the name of the game. Only a data infrastructure that's intelligent can deliver data fast enough to help motorsports teams earn a victory lap," said Gabie Boko, NetApp's chief marketing officer.

The Porsche teams will leverage NetApp's Cloud Volumes ONTAP to consolidate data in the cloud while accessing it anywhere needed. They'll use BlueXP software to manage data across the hybrid cloud environment, including creating local dataset copies for low-latency trackside analysis. Cloud Backup ensures high availability and cyber resilience.

"Motorsports are more about technology than almost anything else. NetApp helps us shine by powering the intelligent data infrastructure that moves our data to the exact place where it will be the most useful," said Carlo Wiggers, Director of Team Management, Business Relations, and Esports at Porsche Motorsport.

The partnership allows Porsche's racing teams global access to critical data generated at their home base in Germany.
