NetApp's Spot division has attained FinOps Certified Platform status from the FinOps Foundation, the company announced Thursday. The certification validates Spot's capabilities in cloud financial management.
Spot by NetApp also unveiled two new product modules: Cost Intelligence and Billing Engine. These additions expand the platform's suite of cloud cost optimization tools.
As businesses increasingly shift workloads to the cloud, particularly for AI development, balancing infrastructure needs with financial efficiency has become challenging. NetApp says its integrated FinOps solutions address this issue by unifying cloud cost and infrastructure optimization.
Mike Fuller, CTO of the FinOps Foundation, emphasized the importance of collaboration and data access in effective FinOps strategies. "We recognize Spot by NetApp as a FinOps Certified Platform due to its ability to deliver software that helps organizations successfully adopt FinOps practices," Fuller said.
The Cost Intelligence module provides visibility into cloud costs and usage across multiple cloud environments. It offers best practice checks to help users optimize spending and resource utilization.
Billing Engine focuses on comprehensive billing reporting and cost allocation, including chargeback and showback features. This aims to improve tracking and management of cloud spend across different groups.
Haiyan Song, Executive Vice President of Cloud Operations at NetApp, called the certification "a true validation of Spot by NetApp's vision and approach to leveraging data and technology to help customers get the most from their cloud investments."
NetApp is showcasing its expanded FinOps offerings at the FinOps X conference in San Diego, running through Saturday.
