Teradata Corp. announced Monday it has renewed and expanded its Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services to help customers migrate data analytics to the cloud and leverage artificial intelligence opportunities.
The deepened partnership allows Teradata's data analytics platform, VantageCloud, to integrate more tightly with various AWS services like Amazon SageMaker for machine learning. It also paves the way for building new AI use cases that take advantage of generative AI technology.
"As a digital retailer with millions of online customers, we know there's nothing worse than when a consumer's desired item is out of stock," said Peter Murty, head of data platforms and governance at The Very Group, a Teradata customer. "By leveraging Teradata VantageCloud on AWS, we are able to predict consumer product demand and ensure the right products are in stock and ready to ship."
Under the expanded agreement, Teradata's enterprise data analytics software, including its VantageCloud platform for cloud data lakes and warehouses, will be offered through AWS Marketplace. This lets customers procure Teradata's services directly through AWS and have it count against cloud spending commitments.
The companies also plan to develop industry-specific cloud data solutions delivering faster insights in sectors like financial services, retail, health care and manufacturing. They will collaborate on tying VantageCloud to Amazon Bedrock, a new service for securely building generative AI applications.
"This deepened collaboration with AWS supports our customers as they embark on their AI and cloud modernization journeys," said Michael Hutchinson, Teradata's chief customer officer.
The partnership builds on Teradata's existing integrations with AWS services. Headquartered in San Diego, Teradata provides cloud-based analytics software used by many of the world's largest companies and government agencies.
